Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma’s Treatment Coverage

Along with figuring out what treatment programs can work best for you, the payment aspect needs to be considered as well. While some people may prefer paying out of pocket, some may not be able to do the same but other options exist. On top of the payment assistance offered at certain facilities, people can also use insurance to pay for treatment. One insurance that is available for addiction treatment in Oklahoma is Blue Cross Blue Shield. They strive to be client-focused and work closely with their medical providers. Blue Cross Blue Shield also provides its clients with two coverages: Blue Preferred PPO and Blue Advantage PPO.

Blue Preferred PPO

Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Preferred PPO offers three tiers of coverage: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. While Preferred may have higher monthly premiums, but the freedom to choose might be worth it. Clients get a wider selection of providers and hospitals to choose from in all of Oklahoma. In addition, substance abuse treatment can be covered in all three tiers, although copay, coinsurance, and deductible may apply.

Blue Advantage PPO

Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue Advantage PPO also offers three different tiers of coverage. These tiers are Gold, Silver, and Bronze.  Advantage offers clients a lower monthly premium with a few limitations compared to Preferred. The coverage provides clients with fewer doctors and hospitals in selected areas but might be worth the lower cost. With Advantage, clients can also receive substance abuse treatment but may require copays, coinsurance, and deductibles.

Paying for treatment should not be an obstacle in the way of your recovery. Whether you have your own insurance or searching for one, it can be helpful to find out all your options. Remember you have options and do not have to figure it out on your own. Reach out to us at 405-583-4309 or visit the insurance websites to find out more.

Medicare Coverage

While Medicare does not have a specific benefit category for substance abuse treatment, it can still provide some assistance. For people with severe addiction who absolutely need treatment, Medicare might have coverage for it. Treatment coverage is available for both inpatient or outpatient, depending on the necessity. Medicare covers adults ages 65 or older but an expectation is made for younger people with disabilities. The coverage is split up into four parts: Part A, B, C, and D. Part A covers hospitals, Part B covers medical, Part C covers a mix of A, B, and oftentimes D, and Part D covers prescription drugs.

Medicaid Coverage

With Medicaid, people may have access to wider coverage. It includes substance abuse treatments for outpatient, residential programs, and additional services. Coverage includes both alcohol and drug addictions. Medicaid covers people of all ages that are low-income and do not have the means for healthcare. Anyone from pregnant women to children to people with disabilities can seek assistance from Medicaid.

Medicare and Medicaid Coverage

If for any reason you do not have access to insurance or other coverage’s, you can still have other options. Many facilities accept Medicare and Medicaid, along with other payment assistance. Medicare and Medicaid offer coverage for different groups of people but they are both U.S. federal healthcare plans. Their aim is to make it possible for people who cannot afford other health coverage to still have access to healthcare.

For more information on each healthcare plan and their coverage, you can visit their websites under their behavioral and mental health section. If these options do not meet your needs, several facilities offer assistance programs to help cover treatment costs.

Finding the Right Coverage

Although paying for treatment might be weighing heavy on you, you have options and do not have to do it alone. Your recovery and treatment should be the main focus and you should not have to think about the cost or whether it is worth it. The costs should not be an obstacle because you and your health are worth it. A few options you can consider include private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payment assistance.

People can seek coverage from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma. Addiction treatment is covered under both Blue Shield Blue Cross Preferred PPO and Advantage PPO. With Preferred, you might have a higher monthly premium, but you have a large selection of providers and hospitals. Advantage gives clients a lower monthly premium with fewer providers in a selected area but the lower cost might be worth it. Both plans may require a copay, coinsurance, or deductibles. People can also enroll in Medicaid or Medicare, which aims to make healthcare possible for those who otherwise could not afford it.
